Accessibility Statement
LinguaClub is for everyone. Here is what we do to make the site usable, what is still being improved, and how to tell us about a problem.
Our commitment
LinguaClub is committed to making this website usable by everyone, including people with disabilities, older adults, and people who use screen readers or other assistive technology. Our goal is to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. This is the standard that the U.S. Department of Justice requires for state and local government websites under Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
What we do today
- Every page is available in English and in Spanish. Use the EN / ES button at the top of the page.
- Text size buttons (A+ and A−) make words larger or smaller on the practice tools.
- Many pages have a Listen button that reads the page aloud. It uses the voice already on your own device.
- The welcome video has captions in Spanish, with English captions you can choose, and a written transcript.
- You can move through the site with a keyboard, and every page has a “Skip to main content” link.
- We use clear fonts, strong color contrast, and large buttons that are easy to tap.
- The site works on phones, tablets, and computers.
- You never need an account, and nothing you type is sent anywhere.
What we are still improving
We want to be honest about where the site is not perfect yet.
- The games can be played with a keyboard, but some games and visual practice tools, such as the jigsaw puzzle, are very visual and may be hard to use with a screen reader. We are working through them one by one.
- Tools that use a camera, such as the Magnifier and the Video Visit Simulator, show a live picture of you and need a working camera.
- The Listen button depends on the voices installed on your device. Some devices have no Spanish voice.
- A few pages have more than one top-level heading, which can make navigation by headings less clear.
- We have used automated checks and our own review. Testing by keyboard and with screen readers, and a formal accessibility conformance report, are still in progress.
